تطورت أسماك الغوبي المنقولة إلى بيئة قليلة المفترسات نحو نضج متأخر خلال 11 عاماً (ريزنيك وزملاؤه، 1990)، وفسّرت نظرية الجسد المستهلك لكيركوود (1977) الشيخوخة بمقايضة لصالح التكاثر.
