History

A 2003 amendment allowed companies to commission tailored university departments. Sungkyunkwan University and Samsung Electronics' semiconductor systems engineering department (2006) became the flagship model, with guaranteed hiring on graduation. SK hynix, Hyundai, LG Energy Solution, and others followed.

Types and caveats

Hiring-linked programs fund students and promise jobs. Retraining programs let employees earn degrees and form a key work-first, study-later route. Check service obligations, repayment terms if you leave, and the conditions attached to guaranteed hiring.

FAQ

Is the job guaranteed?
Yes, if you meet the agreed conditions such as GPA.
What if I drop out?
You may have to repay support.
