Business Model Canvas

💼 Business By CampusDown Wiki Editorial Team Last updated
Quick answer: the Business Model Canvas maps on one page, in nine boxes, whom a business serves, what value it delivers, how, and how it makes money.

The nine blocks

  • Customer segments
  • Value propositions
  • Channels
  • Customer relationships
  • Revenue streams
  • Key resources
  • Key activities
  • Key partnerships
  • Cost structure

How to fill it in

Start on the right side (segments, value, channels, relationships, revenue), which captures value creation, then the left side (resources, activities, partners, costs), which captures efficiency. A prior 3C analysis helps.

Lean Canvas

Ash Maurya adapted it for startups, adding problem, solution, key metrics and unfair advantage.

Limits

It does not show competition or change over time directly, so treat it as a set of hypotheses to test and revise.
