Youth Employment Leap Incentive (Korea)

📈 Economics By CampusDown Wiki Editorial Team Last updated
The Youth Employment Leap Incentive is a Korean labor-ministry program. Small and mid-sized firms that hire disadvantaged young people as permanent staff receive a wage subsidy. Since 2026 it also pays retention bonuses to youth at firms outside the capital region.

Background

This program succeeded the 2017 youth additional-hiring subsidy in 2023 and targets young people who face barriers to employment. In 2026 it was revamped to support regional jobs and longer tenure.

How it works

Priority-support firms with five or more employees can get up to ₩7.2 million over a year after hiring 15–34-year-olds into permanent roles and keeping them at least six months. From 2026, youth at firms outside the capital region who stay six months can receive up to ₩7.2 million over two years. Participants in the National Employment Support Program may qualify. Applications go through Work24.

FAQ

Do youths apply themselves?
For the retention bonus, yes.
Do Seoul-area firms qualify?
For the employer subsidy; the bonus is mainly non-capital.
